Trinitarian Theology
GC Lemon Grove is a church that embraces Trinitarian Theology and ministers to the city of Lemon Grove from this theological perspective.
Theologians from the history of the Church with whom we feel a special kinship include Irenaeus of Lyon, Athanasius of Alexandria, Gregory of Nyssa, Karl Barth, T.F. Torrance and J.B. Torrance – just to name a few.
Trinitarian Theology is an understanding that Scripture says that Jesus was a perfect representation of the Father God. He said, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.” This means that just as Jesus was compassionate, forgiving and willing to die for humanity, so our heavenly Father has the same heart and mind.
As a result of this view of Jesus, God the Father and the Holy Spirit we see this God at the center of everything we believe and do. We place particular emphasis on the loving, relational, and inclusive nature of God’s Triune Life. We believe that the Son of God has taken up permanent residence in human nature as the man Jesus in order to share this embracing life of the Trinity with all of humanity and the whole creation.
This theology is also held by our denomination, Grace Communion International, and you can find out much more about this teaching at www.gci.org. Check out the many videos, particularly the “You’re Included” series.
Dr. J. Michael Feazell interviews Trinitarian theologians about the good news that God loves you, wants you, and includes you in Jesus Christ. Most programs are about 28 minutes long. Although GCI is in general agreement with the interviewees, these interviews are not official statements of GCI doctrines.
